Peter Gray (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Pakau, Te Mahurehure)
I have been involved in sport from a very young age, having competed and represented Whangārei, Northland, NZ Maori, New Zealand, Sydney, West Sydney, and NSW in a number of different sports, ranging from Touch, Oztag, Rugby, Rugby League and Basketball.
After my first CrossFit class 2 years ago, I became hooked on the Sport of Fitness. My passion now is to get as many people involved in our sport, grow our community and share not only my sporting and training experiences, but my life skills.
So come one, come all. Be a part of Northlands friendliest and most supportive CrossFit Community.

I’ve played sports all my life –excelling at Rugby and League to Premier and Representative Levels in Northland and Auckland.
I started CrossFit three years ago and found it to be the best type of all round training for all levels of skill and fitness – from the top level elite athlete to someone who just wants to stay fit and healthy.
I’ve competed at three of the top National CrossFit competitions in New Zealand with some of New Zealand and Australia’s Fittest CrossFitters:
Battle of the Fittest – 2014
Industrial Athletic Invitational – 2014
Wellington Cup – 2013/2014
If you’d like to train in a friendly positive atmosphere, come on down and see us. We look forward to meeting you.

CrossFit was a natural next step – a personal evolution. Early years of representative Rugby League merged into weight training, Half Marathons, Half Ironmans, even an Ultra Marathon. As soon as I tried CrossFit, I knew it was something I wanted to continue with.
As a Professional Firefighter, it’s necessary to maintain a high level of fitness and agility. CrossFit has helped with that – and added another dimension to my other qualification – a Diploma in Sport and Recreation. As a Personal Trainer over the last decade, I’ve provided advice to clients about nutrition being just as important as an active lifestyle. CrossFit makes it easy to drive that message home – especially to whanau who need the encouragement.
More recently I’ve discovered Ankorr and ZUU, further cementing movement as the new way forward.

I’ve always had a passion for outdoor activities and sports. During my time at Wesley College I played a number of sports such as rugby, soccer, hockey, basketball, softball and badminton. Since moving home to Northland I continued to play rugby and league, then one day I stumbled upon CrossFit and have been hooked ever since!! It’s a fun way to work out and push yourself both physically and mentally. We’re all about whānau and spreading the important message of health and well-being throughout Te Tai Tokerau. We welcome all ages and fitness levels.
There are new challenges every day and the atmosphere here at CrossFit Whangārei is one of a kind. So if you’re keen to run with the pack then be sure to pop us a message on FaceBook.

George Styles (Ngāpuhi, Ngātiwai)
High School is where I found a passion for training not only in the weight room but on the athletic field by introduction of representative rugby, basketball and athletics. This was further enhanced throughout University study in sporting curriculum where I became an Exercise Physiologist at UQ Sport Fitness Centre. During this time I experienced training elite Rugby players (Qld Reds and Brisbane Broncos) under supervision of Daniel Baker and Lachlan Penfold while undertaking Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Course. Also had stints as Boxing fitness coach, Boot Camp and Group Fitness Instructor.
Throughout the years I have competed in various events including Half Marathon, Triathlons (Olympic Distance), Road Cycling, Adventure Racing and Obstacle Course Racing.
Helping people achieve their goals is the most rewarding experience imaginable. Constant upskilling is always essential in an ever changing fitness industry which has led to a willingness to learn new ways to achieve goals, train, instruct clients. Recently competing in Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit competitions have given me a broader understanding and skill set into training myself and other people.

Rehutai Manukau (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whātua)
I was introduced to CrossFit when I was only 16 years old, I ended up having a break due to team sports but later returning in 2015 at CrossFit Whangārei. Being the youngest in my family, I have been brought up around people who believe in the importance of health and fitness. I have competed since a young age in numerous sports at school and regional levels and as I have become older I have coached youth teams, which continued to grow my passion towards sport and fitness. Since then I am now an eager member of the gym and have competed in numerous CrossFit competitions. I now only partake in CrossFit as it not only gives me the motivation and fitness I need but I enjoy coaching and watching the progress of our CrossFit whānau. Mauri tū, mauri ora.
My background is in Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing. My previous achievements in this arena have seen me attain New Zealand Boxing Titles, Golden Gloves, Kickboxing Titles, as well as coaching and facilitating Muay Thai fitness classes. As this journey started at 12 years old, I found myself looking for a new challenge at the age of 20… where I then got hooked on the sport of CrossFit. I enjoy training and coaching at CrossFit Whangārei as we are all one big whānau, and are all about helping people to set and smash their goals, regardless of age or fitness level.
If you find yourself looking for a new challenge, or want to start living a healthier, active lifestyle, then be sure to come check us out!

My journey starts with RUGBY. I was in love with the idea of being an All Black. I made the Northland U18s, tried out for the Blues U18s and continued playing footy in the winterless north.
Soon I found myself knocking on the door of Crossfit Whangārei and have never looked back since. I started back in 2015 and I love this sport to bits; it’s challenging in every way possible and I recommend that everyone come down and check us out.
My personal goals as a shadow coach is to learn as much about this sport as possible, so I can assist people in getting fitter, feeling healthier learning new things and leaving the box like WOW!
